Hot Dish Catering
Chef Stephanie Oelsligle Jordan grew up in Nebraska, and later graduated from Northwestern University with a BA in Communication Studies. After working in Marketing and PR for several years, she caught the “cooking bug,” and in 2004 earned a Certificate of Professional Cooking from the Illinois Institute of Art. She took additional culinary classes at Food Unites the World in Paris, France and The New School in New York City. Shortly after culinary school, she started her own company, Hot Dish, Inc., through which she catered numerous private events. Her clients included Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee, Credit Suisse, Columbia College, Loyola University, Baird & Warner, editors of the Chicago Tribune, and countless private clients who just love to throw a good party. In addition to catering, she has led over 400 cooking classes with both adults and children. From 2010-2011, Chef Steph was an adjunct faculty member in the Culinary Department at Robert Morris University, where she taught International Cuisine, and Healthy Cooking for Fitness Professionals. Other culinary stints included menu consulting for Taste America Catering (in Chicago), trade show demos for HP Hood (a Massachusetts-based dairy company), and managing the kitchen at The Tasting Room, a wine bar on Chicago’s West Randolph Street. In November 2011, Chef Steph and her family moved to Benicia, California, where she soon began working with Healthy Cooking with Kids (HCK). She taught after-school cooking classes, developed recipes, led instructor trainings, and currently serves as Secretary on HCK’s Board of Directors. In 2016, she began volunteering with Sustainable Solano (also in Benicia), and is now co-managing a USDA Local Food Promotion Program planning grant, which she helped author. As a mother of 2 young boys, Chef Steph is passionate about teaching children to eat healthy from a young age, and increasing the accessibility of high-quality food to everyone. She is an advocate of cleaning up our nation’s broken food system, and works for food justice whenever possible.
